A note to our Swedish friends visiting this page
I occasionally read the access logs for my website out of curiosity about who is looking at it.  For some reason, a large number of Swedes have been accessing the page.  (No Danes or Norwegians.  I don't know why.)   I suppose that they were looking for something in Sweden when they stumbled upon this page.  Indeed, I occasionally get e-mails via the page from people in Sweden asking about the page and my family's history.   They are usually suprised to find that somebody in America has the unpronouncable and obscure name "Brorson".

The story is this:  My father's father (my grandfather) was born in Sweden as Carl A. Brorsson.  He grew up in the vicinity of Haessleholm, in Skaane.  Brorsson's sawmill, which was the family business, is apparently still in operation there.  Carl A.  was the only child in his family to go to the university.  According to family legend, when he graduated from the university, he decided to get as far away from Sweden and its terrible weather as he possibly could.  He got a map of the United States, and found the city of San Diego on the sunny California coast, just north of Mexico.  He immediately moved to San Diego, and happily lived there for the rest of his life.

Upon arriving here in the US he did what many immigrants do and changed his name.  However, instead of changing it to something reasonable and pronouncable like "Brown" or "Bronson", he changed it to "Brorson".  Then he had two sons, and six grandchildren.  I am one of those grandchildren.  If he were alive today, Grandfather Carl A would be disappointed in me because I live in New York City, where the weather is usually terrible (although still better than Sweden).

In any event, I own the domain brorson.com and brorson.org, and will be building a Brorson family site here over the fullness of time.  That's why you found this page.  Enjoy looking around!  And if you are looking for a real Swedish Brorson, you might try clicking here or here or here
