The Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center

22nd Regiment armory Armory Entrance.
After the park, we come across the old 22nd Regiment armory building, which is nowadays the Armory Track and Field Center. The armory entrance.

Columbia Pres Hospital Columbia Pres
and the bus.
Next we enter the huge Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center complex. The tower is part of the hospital, the ornate buildings in front are apartments. Perhaps because Washington Heights has been neglected for several decades, many apartment buildings retain their original ornaments. This is in contrast to the more fashionable (Y)upper West Side, where many building were stripped of their ornaments by greedy landlords over the years. The bus arrives at the corner of 165th St and Fort Washington Ave. Columbia Pres looms in the background.

Looking backward, we see the GW Bridge behind Columbia Pres. Here is the doorway to Chambold Court, a typically ornate pre-war apartment building entrance on Fort Washington Avenue.

Go back to the GW Bridge. Continue with the bus tour.
