After we left the old Charles River locks, this dude came out to see what we were up to. Since we were already leaving, he didn't need to shoo us away. We waved at him, and he waved back. A quick duck into a doorway in one of the drawbridge's control towers revealed this scene behind a locked office door. Check out that fridge! Not updated since the 1940s, I'd say! I wonder how old the beer kept in there is?

Here, Ron and Craig walk towards Leverett Circle. Ron has found some interesting detail to investigate, while Craig again mugs for the camera. Unknown to most people (outside of serious transit geeks), the old entrance to the Science Park "T" top at one time exited right onto Leverett Circle in the middle of traffic. The volume of traffic was probably much smaller at that time. Here is a shot of the long-abandoned entrance.

Here's another shot of the old entrance to the Science Park "T" stop entrance at Leverett Circle. When was it abandoned? Looking back at the Science Park "T" stop, you can see the newer entrance grafted on the side of the structure. Also visible is another tower with "1910" emblazoned on it. The abandoned entrance is in the tower structure, on the right (not visible in this photo).

Across the street from Leverett Circle -- directly on the Charles -- is the new Nashua Street Park, currently under construction. Here's the masonry defining the center point of the future park. In the background, portions of the Big Dig's Leverett Connector are visible.
